This past weekend was nothing short of spectacular as we hosted our guests at the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Despite the unpredictable weather, the energy and excitement at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway were palpable.
At these big races, getting reliable Internet can sometimes be really difficult. Our CEO, Ken, went above and beyond by setting up an eero, complete with eero Secure and Guardian VPN, ensuring that our Wi-Fi was lightning-fast. This seamless connectivity allowed our guests to stay connected and share their experiences in real-time without any hiccups. Check out the video of the setup on LinkedIn.
We kicked off the weekend with breakfast with our guests and the Indy 500 parade, which was a spectacle to behold. The event celebrated the rich history and vibrant racing culture in Indianapolis.
Our guests had the chance to test their racing skills on racing simulators, allowing them to feel what it’s like to drive at high speeds on an iconic track. This interactive experience was a hit. We also had full access to Juncos Hollinger Racing hospitality and a suite so we could watch everything from there, hospitality, or from above the suite seats where we could see virtually the entire track!
One of the highlights was the meet and greet with Romain Grosjean. Guests were thrilled to interact with the talented driver, gaining insights into his racing strategies and experiences. This personal touch added a special dimension to our event.
The day concluded with a fantastic dinner at St. Elmo’s, where our guests enjoyed a delicious meal and shared stories from the day's events. The camaraderie and shared excitement made for a perfect ending to an action-packed day.
Despite heavy storms causing a delay and the potential for cancellation, the race was delayed. Because of the long delay, DNSFilter was able to have lunch with Romain himself in the hospitality tent which our guests absolutely loved.
The race ultimately went ahead after a four-hour rain delay. The start flag was waved, and the drama of the race unfolded with eight cautions and only 22 of the 33 starting cars finishing the race.
Juncos Hollinger Racing had a memorable day on the track. Agustin Canapino, driving the No. 78 entry, made significant progress from his 22nd starting position, fighting his way into the top 12 and achieving one of the highest numbers of on-track passes before a pit lane penalty dropped him back to finish in 22nd place. Romain Grosjean in the No. 77 entry displayed strong performance as well, though a more frequent pit stop strategy of seven stops compared to his competitors’ five or six resulted in him finishing 19th.
Looking ahead, the racing action continues with the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear just around the corner. Romain Grosjean and Agustin Canapino will be back on track this weekend in Detroit, ready to take on the next challenge.
In summary, despite the rain and delays, the weekend at the Indy 500 was a remarkable success. From high-speed racing action to memorable interactions with racing stars and top-notch hospitality, it was an event that left a lasting impression on all our guests.
